Premises liability cases are often referred to as slip and fall cases. However, there are other types of premises liability cases in addition to slip and fall cases. Premises liability occurs when a dangerous condition exists on the property of a landowner and that dangerous condition causes an injury. Examples of premises liability cases that I have handled include failure to have working smoke detectors in a leased premises, storing flammable liquid inside a leased premises, using a brand of paint on a parking garage floor that became extremely slippery when it became wet, defect in the cement at an amusement park leading to tripping hazard, failure to control a known dangerous dog, failure to warn customers that a floor was wet and slippery.
